Screenplay

Michael Sauter was born in Zurich 1973. After secondary school he began studying German, ecclesiastical history and comparitive linguistics at the University of Zurich.

Between 1996 and 1999 he worked as a freelance music journalist and editor for the youth magazine Toaster. He was also part of the legendary Zurich hardcore band Mona Lisa Overdrive.

Directed by Mike Eschmann, the film Ready, Steady, Charlie!, represented Michael Sauter's (and David Keller's) breakthrough as a screenwriter. The film counted nearly 600'000 admissions in Switzerland, thus making it the largest box office success of 2003.

One year later Michael Sauter had further reason to celebrate when the film Strähl (similarly, co-authored with David Keller), won three Swiss Film Prizes and had a very succesfull run in national theatres.

Michael Sauter, not surprisingly, has become one of the most sought after script writers in Switzerland. He lives and works in Zurich and is also a member of two bands, Motordykes and Cosmetics.
