The life of 20-year-old Nico from upper class Zurich is all party, sex and drugs when she meets Carlos, the front man of a hip hop band. She finds herself drawn to his independent, creative and profound way of life, so different from her own. With naïveté and infinite self-confidence, she tries to adopt his lifestyle - without anticipating the consequences.

After 15 films for both local and international broadcasters, extended work as a producer with up and coming young talents and various documentaries such as BABYLON 2 and, most recently, the acclaimed FORGET BAGHDAD, SNOW WHITE is Samir's long awaited new feature film.

In Snow White social criticism is cleverly intertwined with melodrama, resulting in a moving love-story, which, despite its dramatic turn leaves us with a glimmer of hope.

Samir has furthermore managed to create a truly «Swiss» film, interweaving the French and German speaking parts of Switzerland by employing characters which regularly switch between Swiss German and French.

SNOW WHITE is a Swiss-Austrian co-production and was filmed in Zurich, Vienna and Paris. It was produced by Dschoint Ventschr in co-production with Filmhaus Films in Vienna, SRG SSR idée suisse / Swiss television broadcaster SF DRS, Praesens-Film, Topic Film and Telepool.

Dschoint Ventschr Filmproduktion will be releasing the film locally on 1st September 2005, in co-operation with Swiss distributor Ascot Elite Entertainment Group.

The lead role «Nico» is played by young French actress Julie Fournier. Zoe Miku from Zurich plays her best friend Wanda. The male lead role is played by Carlos Leal, the lead singer of the popular Swiss hip hop band «Sens Unik». Other cast members include Stefan Gubser, Mike Müller, Benedikt Freitag, Sunnyi Melles, Liliana Heimberg, Beatrice Kessler, Pascal Ulli, Martin Rapold, Patrick Rapold and Stefan Kurt from Switzerland and Xaver Hutter and Wolfram Berger from Austria.

SNOW WHITE was produced by Susann Rüdlinger and Samir. The directors of photography were Andreas Hutter from Austria and Michael Saxer and Hans Meier from Switzerland.

Exclusively for SNOW WHITE, Carlos Leal wrote four brandnew hip hop tracks. They will all feature on the film's soundtrack, along with songs by the crème de la crème of the swiss indie music scene.

The Score was designed by two well known Austrian composers, Marnix Veenenbos and Walter W. Cikan.
